寮國猴子農場涉嫌虐待動物 法新社 2012年3月7日
（法新社河內6日電） 根據英國動物保護團體的報告，寮國有數千隻猴子養在過度擁擠又寸草不生的養殖場，然後賣到國外的實驗室供研究之用。英國廢除活體解剖聯盟（British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection，BUAV）昨天發表聲明說， 研究用長尾猴的買賣快速成長，從2004年以來，寮國已 出口將近3萬5000隻長尾猴。 BUAV說：「這些猴子居住的養殖場環境和牠們的命運都很惡劣……根本違反了國際認定的動物福利指針。」BUAV曾實地考察，並與靈長類實驗動物公司的老闆會談。 BUAV說：「有些猴子死在圍欄內，也有猴子非常瘦弱，可能伴隨嚴重脫毛或受傷。」這份報告指稱，寮國農場內的猴子賣給中國和越南的靈長類實驗動物公司，之後再提供給美國和歐洲的製藥公司用於實驗。（譯者:中央社實習編譯薛世賢） 1

I think this kind of monkeys are not farm animals or pets, but are wild animals. In keeping them in cages is violating their right of autonomy/freedom. In particular, keeping them in very closed-spaced cages is against animal welfare.
回覆刪除It is not fair to them in using them as food, or ingredient of medicine when there are some other non-animal choices.

We are not scientists so we do not know why they need this particular type of monkeys for research.
回覆刪除BUT as I have said in the previous comment, we should include veterinary research scientists in the research team, who should focus on the interest of the monkeys side by side with those scientists who only take care of human interest.
If medicine is to be developed for humans, then in parallel medicine should also be developed for the monkey group to help relieve pains and suffering of such monkeys as a whole group, not just kindness to those monkeys in the laboratories.
我覺得‘在動物死前應該善待它們’這句話充滿著人類的虛偽。就好像一個殺人犯在捉了一個小孩後，帶他去吃麥當勞和去海洋公園玩後一刀把他殺了，這行為會否減少他的罪惡？還是顯得他更變態？
