拒運實驗動物 影響英新藥研究 路透社 – 2012年3月15日
（路透倫敦14日電）科學家與製藥商今天說，渡輪公司與航空公司屈服於動物保護人士的壓力，拒絕運送用於實驗的動物，已威脅到英國國內一些相當重要的醫學研究。
研究人員說，所有往返英國的國際渡輪公司，都已明文禁止運送用於研發新藥的老鼠與囓齒目及其他動物。英國醫學研究會（Medical Research Council）、英國藥劑產業協會（Association of the BritishPharmaceutical Industry）與醫學研究慈善協會（Association of Medical Research Charities）等機構的科學家說：「運送這些動物面臨極大威脅，將阻礙重要生物醫學研究的進展。」
英國國內用於研究的動物，大部分都是在本地飼育，不過有一些計畫必須由世界各國互相分享實驗用動物。中央社（翻譯）

This is an example of conflict of interests between human beings and animals.
回覆刪除Using Peter Singer's principle of equal consideration of interests, lives of animals are more important than experiments that are meaningless. But, if the animal experiments are very crucial to the lives of human beings, there is a strong case to do such experiments, PROVIDED that the pain-suffering of animals should be avoided or must reduced to minimum extent.
On the other hand, a complete abandon of transporting animals for experiments is too extreme, and without any consideration for the purposes of the experiments (which may save many human lives).

We do experiments on animals for human's interests. Such acts show human's selfishness and cruelty.

No solution?
There is a solution!
We can ask the animals: Do you know how to handle relevant experiments?
None of them know how, for sure.
Therefore our mission, as the only species knowing how to do research works and experiments, is to handle such works for the interests of both human beings and the kind of animals having some of them taken as our guinea-pigs by force.
For example, when we would like to cure bird flu, and take some birds as guinea-pigs, veterinary researchers should also particpate and investigate how to cure birds suffering from the same disease together.
Win-win, always mutual benefit in return to exchange for their sacrifices. Eco-inspired researches, always, not just for the interest of Homo sapiens alone.
